The Psychology of Coming Home

A considered note from the studio.
You may not consciously notice the moment a home asks you to relax. Your body notices first.
Home is a sequence of signals
The entrance receives you. Lighting changes your pace. Materials invite touch. A chair suggests that you can stay.
Calm is designed, not decorated
When storage works, visual noise decreases. When circulation works, people stop navigating around obstacles. When lighting is layered, the room can adapt to the hour.
A client may say they want a beautiful home. Underneath that request might be something more precise: I want to feel less overwhelmed when I arrive here. That is a design brief worth listening to.
